Dr. Michael Gallivan and Cheryl Prudhomme have been smitten with horses since childhood. Michael, who still practices dentistry, was involved nationally with show hunters and jumpers. Cheryl subsidized her passion for dressage with a career as an industrial chemist with several patents to her credit. As youth slipped away and competitive riding became unrealistic, the pursuit of breeding Thoroughbreds was a reasonable alternative.
Shamrock Hill Farm is situated on 100 acres along the Hudson River at the foothills of the Adirondacks. The farm has two barns with foaling cameras and automatic waterers. An indoor arena is invaluable for allowing newborn foals to exercise in inclement, winter weather. It's also very handy as a safe, limited turnout for recuperating individuals.
13 paddocks and pastures varying from 1/2 acre to 25 acres allow for safe turnout in limited groups or individually. Safety for both horse and humans is a primary concern and to this end, all foals, weanlings and yearlings are handled and led daily to assure manners and minimize risk.
Our Odyssey six horse exerciser adds to the ability to adequately prepare yearlings for the sales ring. There is also a standard round pen for horses that may require individual attention.
Shamrock Hill Farm welcomes boarders for mare care, weanlings, yearlings and sales prep. We stress individual care and accomodations for each animal.
Our trucks and trailers are available for shipping mares for local breeding runs as well as vet clinics. We make regular runs to Kentucky during the breeding season and offer discounts to our boarders.
Shamrock Hill Farm has a regular presence as a consignor at Fasig Tipton's Saratoga sales. We welcome the opportunity to represent horses at these sales.
